These drawings are from a page torn out of a sketchbook I was working in before I moved. Mostly I remember lying in bed, staring at Like a Velvet Glove, and for the first time, trying to emulate an artist I admired. I had just finished reading Your Vigor For Life Appalls Me, which is a collection of letters from Robert Crumb to some friends through out his career – starting from the young age of about 13? Maybe? I can’t quite remember. Anyway, the point is, he mentioned often that he would sit around tracing shit he loved all day, so I thought I’d give it a whirl, too. I guess it’s good practice. Anyway, here are a few:
An attempt at copying ol’ Daniel Clowes… whata noid.
Some font copying. I am very original!
So, that’s that. There is a bunch more, but it’s not very interesting to look at copies of someone elses work. Plus, it’s a lil’ embarassing!
